Full Day Bushcraft Experience

Do you feel it’s time to escape the hi tech world we live in and step back a little, back to basics, back to connect with your surroundings, back to what you perhaps used to do when you were a kid?

Bushcraft is not just about learning skills, it’s about clearing your head and maybe taking a different approach. Far too often we are forced to put our heads down and get the job done. Sometimes you need to stop and take stock. The woodland environment is the perfect place to do this. If you can do this, learn a new skill or two and have fun you will notice the benefits! Or maybe you want to drag your kids away from screen time and introduce them some new skills as a family unit, creating fantastic family memories.

This course will introduce you to the main skills you would require to survive and leave you with a good understanding which, if you wanted to, can be taken further to increase your depth of knowledge and ability.

A real adventure which will introduce you to many bushcraft skills. A great way to experience the great outdoors while learning. This course is aimed at adults and accompanied mid / late teens.

Red Oak Bushcrafts is a family run business based in and around the fantastic Peak District National Park. They offer bushcraft, wilderness and survival skills courses in a friendly relaxed environment to enable you to learn the skills you want.

This course will introduce you to the main skills you would require to survive and leave you with a good understanding which, if you wanted to, can be taken further to increase your depth of knowledge and ability.

As most things in the outdoors take longer than expected and you will be working in groups to ensure topics can be covered efficiently.

Subjects covered;
Your natural surroundings and interpreting them.
Shelter building using natural materials.
Fire lighting using the ancient tools of flint and steel, the more modern fire steel and finishing with friction fire bow and drill.
Selection of suitable tinders for fire.
Water, sourcing, collecting, filtering and purifying.
Natural cord / string making.
Camp gadgets for suspending pots over your fire.
